At the College of Engineering, KangWon National University (KNU), we are dedicated to cultivating creative and practice-oriented engineers who will lead regional, national, and global industries in an era of rapid technological advancement.
The college comprises three departments:
Department of Electronic and Semiconductor Engineering
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Department of Advanced Materials and Biochemical Engineering
We offer a strong academic curriculum and cutting-edge research infrastructure across a wide range of disciplines, including electronics and semiconductors, civil and smart construction engineering, ceramic and metallic materials, and biochemical engineering. Under the mentorship of a highly experienced faculty, our students acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills, while participating in real-world research projects using state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.
Through the Global Engineering Talent Development Program, we provide students with opportunities to pursue graduate studies at top institutions in the United States, Japan, Singapore, and beyond, gaining invaluable international experience and nurturing their potential as global engineers and scientists.
Our college is deeply engaged in advanced research through the Engineering Research Institute, with a focus on strategic fields such as fine ceramics, embedded monitoring systems, e-business, smart infrastructure and environment, and nano-metallic materials. We continue to broaden our capabilities in convergence technologies including semiconductors, clean energy materials, multimedia communication, polymer and pharmaceutical synthesis, bioenergy, and IT-based construction technologies.
In addition, we play a vital role in driving regional industrial innovation and training tailored talent through close collaboration with various national research institutes such as the Fine Ceramics Technology Innovation Center, Marine Sensor Network Research Center, Gangwon ICT Convergence Institute, Smart Infrastructure Research Institute, and other RISE research centers within the college.
